Annual Service to MSWA award for 2015 Perc Edwards Voluteer of the Year Award

Congratulations to Claremont's Elena Nesci who not only took out the Perc Edwards Volunteer but also the Annual Service to MSWA award for 2015. Elena has a passion for swimming and it shows through out everyone she does for her club and MSWA.

She has been a force within Masters Swimming in Western Australia for many years. She has been awarded Masters Coach of the Year in 2009 and has been the Head Coach of Claremont Masters for many years. She has offered her services to numerous coaching and stroke clinics conducted by Masters Swimming WA, both sharing her wisdom directly with other swimmers, and assisting other coaches in developing their skills.

Her talents are widely known amongst numerous other clubs, as she is giving of her time to any swimmer and any club to further Masters Swimming in any way she can. She has revolutionised the training program at Claremont Masters, developing an annual coaching schedule, encouraging and mentoring other coaches, and conducting reviews and assessments to ensure members are receiving the coaching they want and need.

She was instrumental in setting up Open Sessions within the club, including a Friday mid-morning group which has now been operating for 10 years, and which attracts members from no less than six different Masters Clubs. She has served on various State committees and has provided hours and hours of unseen support to the Executive Officer and Board of Masters Swimming WA. Her counsel is regularly sought on many matters and she has given countless hours to assisting the State Branch across many areas.

Her sole coordinating role of the very successful Swim Thru Perth – a highlight of the Masters Open Water Calendar – has seen this event grow to be one of the best managed events on the OWS calendar, one which has become the standard which others follow. She has galvanised members across the branch to initiate and secure change, with a true desire to better the services provided for MSWA members and attract new members.
