Elena Nesci dispenses her pearls of wisdom

Claremont Masters has three formal training sessions per week, as well as a weekly Aerobic session and informal Sunday training.

We are fortunate to have a dedicated and talented coaching team, led by our Head Coach for 2016, Trish Burton.
Additional coaches are Elena Nesci, Richard Hughes, Sue Bird, Sally Bell, and Graham Senders, all of whom are MSWA accredited coaches and Masters swimmers of long standing.

We train at HBF Stadium, Stephenson Avenue, Mt Claremont all year round.  HBF Stadium has three 50m pools (two of which can be converted to 25m). Our Summer training is outdoors in 50m format from Sept/Oct to June/July, and indoors in 25m format for the Winter months. 

All training sessions have separate programs for each lane written by one of our coaches. There are two evening sessions per week:

Tuesday PM - 6:45pm - 8:00pm
Thursday PM - 6:45pm - 8:00pm

We have exclusive use of 3 - 4 lanes, and the lanes are graded to suit ability. Total distance swum will be approx 1.8km, 2.4km or 2.8km in the respective lanes - of course this will vary depending on the amount of non-freestyle in the program.

Club Night is the last Tuesday of each month. Currently the format is every alternate month we have timed 400m / 800m swims, alternating with stoke clincs on the other month.

Club Night is a great opportunity to get a gauge of your swimming progress and brush up on your skills. Afterwards there is a social function in our clubrooms at HBF Stadium where we share a drink and a hot meal and catch up on all the news .

There is a morning session once a week:

Friday AM - 9:15am - 10:30am

This time slot has the bonus of being able to use the HBF Stadium crèche, and is very popular for those with pre-school children. This session is structured with reserved lanes and a program assisted by on-deck coaches.

There are two informal sessions on the weekend:

Saturday afternoon Aerobics (timed long distance swims)
Sunday 3:30pm - 5:00pm General training including meet preparation
